In our Scholarships360 page on college-specific scholarships, we note that “some of the best (highest dollar amount) scholarships are college-specific scholarships that colleges and universities offer as part of their aid packages.” With March Madness right around the corner, I couldn’t think of a better school to profile that offers these types of scholarships than one of the schools most synonymous with college basketball- the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

 2012 Simon Youth Foundation Community Scholarship Program

Today’s scholarship is sponsored by the Simon Youth Foundation.  The Simon Youth Foundation is a non-profit organization based out of Indianapolis, Indiana that deals with supporting educational opportunities for students “at risk of dropping out of high school.”  To be eligible for this scholarship, students must plan to use the award towards their undergraduate education.

USGIF 300x300 United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation ScholarshipsThe United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) Scholarships are currently being offered to high school, college, and graduate students. Last year, this generous program awarded “$94,000 to 20 recipients” which included scholarships for “Five Ph.D. candidates, eight master’s students, five undergraduates and two graduating high school seniors.”

Today’s scholarship is the Dr. Alma S. Adams Scholarship for Outreach and Health Communications.  This scholarship is offered by Legacy, which is a non-profit organization that “is dedicated to building a world where young people reject tobacco and anyone can quit.”  This scholarship is worth $5,000 and Legacy will be awarding two separate awards.

37.shire  300x88 Shire 2012 ADHD Scholarship ProgramADHD is a serious challenge faced by many students across the country; fortunately, a scholarship program is here to help! The Shire 2012 ADHD Scholarship Program is currently being offered by the Shire pharmaceutical company for students who are accepted to or enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, accredited trade, technical or vocational school or other “eligible educational institution,” are legal U.S. residents, and, at the time of submitting the application, are diagnosed with ADHD and are under the care of a licensed health care provider for ADHD. Recipients of the Shire ADHD Scholarship will receive a $2,000 college scholarship along with one year of ADHD Coaching Services from the Edge Foundation (valued at over $4,000!).
