Ronald McDonald House Charities sponsors a variety of scholarship opportunities for students to help pay for their college education. The emphasis of this scholarship program is on students who demonstrate financial need. Since 1985, RMHC has given more than $44 million dollars to students.
Scholarships for the RMHC Scholarship Program are offered to students living in areas where there are local RMHC chapters (luckily, there are A LOT of local RMHC chapters)–you can check out the complete list here. To be eligible students must be high school seniors who plan on attending a two year or four year college, university, technical school, or vocational school.
Within the RMHC Scholarship program there are four separate scholarship opportunities for students to apply to (note that not all local chapters will offer all four):
- RMHC Scholars Program (this is open to all students)
- RMHC Asia Prgoram (this is open to students who have at least one parent of Asian-Pacific Heritage)
- RMHC African-American Future Achievers (this is for students who have at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean heritage)
- RMHC HACER Program (this scholarship is for students who have a parent of Hispanic or Latino heritage).
The deadline for these scholarship opportunities is January 27, 2012 so you still have over a week left!
