The Asian Pacific Community Fund is partnering with Verizon to “financially assist students in their pursuit of higher education as they face the challenge of significantly rising costs of obtaining a college degree.” Each of the winners will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
These scholarships are available to Asian American students who are currently high school seniors in California, Oregon or Washington. Also, applicants can be a high school senior planning to attend college in one of those states. Applicants should plan to enroll as a college freshman in a U.S. accredited 4-year college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student majoring in math, engineering, or a technical science in the Fall of 2012. Finally, there is a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA requirement of 3.0. Winners will be decided off of their response to essay questions (2), GPA, leadership, and community involvement.
This scholarship program is run in two separate cycles each year: the deadline to submit your application for the 1st cycle of 2012 is midnight on March 30, 2012. The application and the recommender form can be found online.
