The National Honor Society Scholarship Program

NHS Scholarship Program logo The National Honor Society Scholarship ProgramThe National Honor Society Scholarship Program, run annually since 1946, is offering $200,000 in scholarship awards to high school seniors who are NHS members. This $200,000 involves 2 state finalists (who each receive $1,000), a state winner (an additional $500), then, out of those, 9 regional winners (who earn a total of $3,000) and, finally, one national winner who will receive $13,000.

To enter the NHS scholarship program, you must be nominated by your NHS Chapter Adviser. Senior members of NHS are eligible to be nominated, and each chapter can nominate anywhere from two to five seniors to compete. The exact number is based on graduating class size (small schools of 1-100 can only nominate 2 seniors, while medium schools of 101-250 can nominate 3, etc.). You do not have to be a citizen of the United States to be eligible, although you must plan to attend a U.S. college/university and (of course) be a National Honor Society member. If you’re a student and would like to be nominated, contact your chapter adviser for a copy of the online nomination procedures.
