
The Helen M. McLoraine Figure Skating Scholarship Program is currently being offered to assist eligible current and former amateur and professional ice skaters who dedicated their lives to skating and now wish to pursue a college education. Recipients will win awards of $3,000, $5,000 or $7,000, and a total of $200,000 in scholarships will be awarded. Last year, 143 applications were accepted and 40 scholarship were awarded- that means nearly 28% of applicants won thousands in scholarship dollars!
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be high school seniors or graduates or be current postsecondary undergraduates.
- Plan to enroll in full time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2012-2013 academic year.
- Self-attest that they have competed at least once in a U.S. Figure Skating qualifying competition at the novice or higher level in either the Mens, Ladies, Dance, or Pairs event.
The scholarship application can be found online, and can either be filled out online (through the PDF) or printed out and filled out by hand. This scholarship application is due on February 18, 2012. Good luck!
