The National Italian American Foundation is offering their 2012 college scholarships that come in two separate categories: scholarships for Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements, and scholarships for students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. This generous program awards scholarships worth anywhere from $2,000 to $12,000, and scholarship applicants and winners can apply numerous times!’
In order to be eligible for a NIAF scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be enrolled in an US accredited institution of higher education for the Fall 2012
- Possess a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 (or the equivalent)
- Be a United States citizen or a permanent resident alien
- Fit into 1 of the 2 NIAF scholarship categories
- For the NIAF Scholarship Program, to be “Italian American” the student must have at least one ancestor who has immigrated from Italy
The scholarship application page will lead you to the scholarship form itself. The student application is due on March 2, 2012, and teacher recommendations are due on March 16, 2012.
