American Meteorological Society Scholarships

 American Meteorological Society ScholarshipsThe American Meteorological Society offers a number of generous scholarships to “help further the education of outstanding graduate and undergraduate students pursuing a career in the atmospheric and related oceanic or hydrologic sciences.” All of the scholarships offered by the AMS are due by February 10, 2012.

Scholarships include the following:

The AMS Minority Scholarships to help support the college educations of minority students traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students. These two-year scholarships are worth a total of $6,000 ($3,000 per year).

The AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship is open to all high school students and designed to encourage study in the atmospheric and related sciences.

The AMS Named Scholarships are for students who are entering their final year of undergraduate study in the fall of 2012 and provide evidence of acceptance as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. institution at the time of the award.

The AMS Graduate Fellowships offers a $24,000 stipend to recipients.

The AMS Graduate Fellowship in the History of Science is for a student who is in the process of completing a dissertation on the history of the atmospheric, or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences.
