Latina Smart Fund Scholarship Program

276446 144223668977962 1515212014 n Latina Smart Fund Scholarship ProgramIn honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we are trying to profile a few relevant scholarships!  On Thursday, we took a look at the Gracias Mama Scholarship, and today we are profiling the Latina Smart Scholarship Program.  Sponsored by Kmart, the Latina Smart Fund is offering $25,000 in scholarship awards to students!  The grand prize winners is awarded a $10,000 scholarship and the three runners-up receive a $5,000 award each.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must bet between 16 and 22 years old.  Students must also be enrolled (or planning on enrolling) in a post-secondary course of study (college, university, community college, technical school, trade school, etc.

Students are simply asked to submit a a 1000 word essay or a 2-minute video that answers the topical question on the scholarship website.  The deadline for this scholarship is October 31, 2011.

The essays and videos will be narrowed down on the scholarship Facebook page based on the number of votes received.  Afterwards, the Latina Smart Fund Ambassadors will pick their top twenty entries.  The criteria will be based on:

  • Originality
  • Relevancy to the theme
  • Style
  • Enthusiasm
  • Engagement

Finally, the scholarship committee will select the grand prize winner and the three runners-up!
