From reading to me when I was little to helping me with my FAFSA for college, my mom has always played a role in my academic career. Tonight’s scholarship is the Gracias Mama Scholarship, which recognizes “mothers and their role in their children’s academic success.” This scholarship is sponsored by both Clorox and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be high school seniors who are planning on attending a college or university in the United States. There are five scholarships available and each award is worth $12,000! In addition, each winner receives a $500 spa day certificate for the mom in their life!
This is a really straight forward scholarship—students are asked to write a “500-word essay detailing the role their mother or mother-figure has played in their education.”
Students can submit their scholarship application and 500-word essay on the Hispanic Scholarship Fund website.
This scholarship does not begin until October 8, but you can certainly start working on your essay today. The official deadline for this scholarship is not until January 12, 2012.
