Foot Locker Scholar Athlete Program

footlocker logo 300x198 Foot Locker Scholar Athlete ProgramThe Foot Locker Scholar Athlete Program is a very generous scholarship program offered by Foot Locker and run through dosomething.org. This scholarship program seeks to reward 20 exceptional high school student athletes with $20,000 scholarships each! To be eligible for this scholarship you must be involved in some type of sport (high school, intramural, community based), have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be college bound for the fall of 2012. You will have to answer these three essay questions in 200-35o word essays:

1. How do you exemplify sportsmanship both on and off the field? Give specific examples.

2. How have sports helped you grow into a strong leader? Provide specific examples of leadership activities in your community, school, and team. This might include: volunteer experiences, leadership roles at your school or youth groups, or helping a teammate in need.

3. How will a degree help you grow both professionally and personally?

Applications for the Foot Locker Scholar Athlete Program are due on January 9, 2012. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and some applicants may then advance to a round of (Skype) interviews. The judges will look for applicants who are proactive and highly motivated, inspiring and charismatic, honest and trustworthy, and genuine. Don’t miss the scholarship program’s FAQ list, and, if you have addition questions, direct them to footlocker@dosomething.org. Good luck!
