In memory of the events of September 11, 2001, today’s scholarship is the 9/11 “Never Forget” Flag Scholarship.  This scholarship was founded by John Maslak who witnessed the tragedy of United Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.  Afterwards, Maslak helped create the website “The Cost of Freedom Flag” which sells memorial flags to fund the 9/11 “Never Forget” Flag Scholarship Fund.  You can learn more about Maslak’s story here.

This scholarship is essay-based and asks students to think about the events of September 11.  Specifically, the scholarship essay needs to be between 600 and 800 words and respond to the following topic:

“What this tragic day means to me and my country.”

If you have any questions about this opportunity (or want to donate to a great cause) you can reach out to the scholarship committee.
