The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is offering their annual “Most Valuable Student Competition“, which is open to all high school seniors. This generous program awards 500 four-year scholarships each year, which includes 2 first place prizes of $60,000 each, all the way down to 482 scholarships worth $4,000 each. Yes, that was not a typo- 482!
To apply, you must be a high school senior and a citizen of the United States (no need to be related to a member of the Elks). College students are not eligible to apply, and male and female students compete separately. Applicants to the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Competition will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. In order to reach the national level, you must first advance past local, district, and state competitions.
The MVS Scholarship Application can be accessed once you fill in three different fields (your email address, state residency, and where you heard about the MVS Scholarship).
The application for the Most Valuable Student Competition is due on December 2, 2011. The 500 national winners will be notified sometime in mid-April, 2012. If you have more questions or are simply seeking more information, make sure to check out the FAQ list provided by the Elks, along with the list of past MVS Competition winners. Good luck!
