The Broadcasting Education Association (BEA) Scholarships

logo 150x118 The Broadcasting Education Association (BEA) ScholarshipsThe Broadcasting Education Association (BEA) offers a variety of scholarships each year to college and graduate students interested in teaching and research related to radio, television, and other electronic media. Applicants must be attending a BEA Member School in order to apply. A full list of BEA scholarships includes:

Walter S. Patterson Award– Two scholarships; $1,750 each

Alexander M. Tanger Award– One scholarship; $5,000

2-Year-BEA Award– Two scholarships; $1,500 each

Abe Voron Award– One scholarship; $5,000

Vincent T. Wasilewski Award– One scholarship; $2,500

John Bayliss Award– One Scholarship; $1,500

Richard Eaton Award– One scholarship; $1,500

James S. Gilmore Jr. Award– One scholarships; $1,250

According to the BEA website, applicants should show “substantial evidence of superior academic performance” and should possess “high integrity and a well-articulated sense of personal and professional responsibility.”

The application is fairly simple, and an online PDF version the BEA scholarship can be found here. A second part of the application, the Recommendation Letter Waiver, must also be completed. All scholarship applications must be submitted by October 12, 2011 to:
