Do you believe that the key to success in college has more to do with what you spend your time doing in college rather than where you go? If so, check out the new scholarship from PossibilityU. The PossibilityU Scholarship awards a $5,000 college scholarship to a student that creates a video (to be posted on PossibiltyU’s Facebook page and on youtube) about how college will be the ticket to changing your world.
The PossibilityU Scholarship details page contains a lot of useful information for applicants. It explains that while only one student will win the $5,000, two runners-up will receive 60 day free membership to PossibilityU ($750 value) (the first place winner will receive this as well). The video must be uploaded by October 13, 2011 for consideration, and finalist videos (top five, as picked by the judges) will be posted on the PossibiltyU Facebook page on October 17. From the 17th to November first, a public voting period will be in place- this will ultimately determine the winner.
The entry form for the PossibilityU scholarship is quite simple, so make sure to spend your time perfecting your video! Another interesting aspect of this contest is that Cal Newport is one of the judges. Cal runs Study Hacks (a student-advice blog that I have read quite often) and has a book or two published on the college application process and how to find success in college. Even if you don’t plan on applying to this scholarship, I’d highly recommend checking out Cal’s bits of advice and wisdom on finding academic success.
Good luck!
