The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc., (ISC)² has recently announced two additions to its scholarship program for the 2011-2012 school year, in addition to their already available scholarships. All of the (ISC)² scholarships are geared to future information security professionals studying on the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate level.
The original scholarship offered by (ISC)² was the Graduate Research Project Scholarship, which awards a $3,000 scholarship to graduate students who need funding to conduct special research projects. Up to eight of these grants will be given out.
This year, you can now apply for the Women’s Scholarships and the Undergraduate Scholarships. The Women’s Scholarships are two scholarships that total $40,000 and will be paid in equal amounts over the life of the grant. The Undergraduate Scholarships are for undergraduate students committed to the cyber security field. These scholarships come in $5,000 amounts, and, as with the other two scholarships, a number of them will be awarded.
In order to qualify for these scholarships, an applicant must be pursuing a course of study and/or have a declared major with an information assurance (IA) concentration in one of the scientific, technical or managerial disciplines related to computer and network security. There are a variety of GPA and other requirements that I will not go into detail on here, but, rest assured, all information can be found on the (ISC)² Scholarship page.
The (ISC)² Scholarships online application can be found on the (ISC)² Scholarship page, and applications are due October 3, 2011. If you have any questions, direct them to scholarships@isc2.org. As always, best of luck!
