Blogs can be very powerful tools online for sharing news and connecting people. Sites from Tech Crunch to this very site are blogs. The Political Chamber is another site that utilizes a blogging format. The Political Chamber is all about politics and encouraging people to challenge their viewpoints.
Each year, The Political Chamber offers a scholarship opportunity to student bloggers. To be eligible students must currently be attending or have been accepted to a college or university. Students must also be enrolled in a college political science class for the Fall 2011 semester. Lastly, students must create a Political Chamber account and submit a blog entry on one of the following topics (students can submit more than one blog entry):
- Overhauling Social Security
- Marriage for all Americans
- America’s Debt: How to Protect Future Generations
- American Interventionism and the Push for Democracy
Blog entries must be no more than 1,500 words and need to be submitted by November 6, 2011.
The winning blog entry will be judged on the following criteria:
(1) the depth and creativity of the blog post;
(2) accuracy of factual assertions; and
(3) the number of comment responses the blog elicits. We use this last criteria to gauge the value of the blog to others, and thus the overall benefit to society. How one chooses to market his/her blog, or obtain the necessary support of one’s ideas, is left soley in the discretion of the blogger
Any questions can be addressed to the scholarship committee: politics@politicalchamber.com
Best of luck to all applicants!
