The world is becoming an increasingly interconnected place (Thomas Friedman’s The World is Flat is a wonderfully insightful book about this). Thus, this “interconnectedness” has made international trade a very important part of any nation’s economy.
The Women in International Trade Northern California organization (WIT-NC for short) is a non-profit organization that works to support professionals involved in international trade. The WIT-NC organization is part of the larger Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT). In addition to their different educational and training programs, the WIT-NC offers an annual scholarship for aspiring international trade professionals.
This scholarship opportunity is open to all students who are interested in a career in international trade. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited Northern California institution.
Additionally, applicants must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and demonstrated leadership and community involvment.
The scholarship application for this award can be found online and includes two references (one personal and one academic), a one-page resume, a copy of your graduate or undergraduate transcript, and a 500 word personal essay about your career aspirations and goals. Finally, applicants must also include a 300 word essay that discusses their community involvement and leadership.
Completed application materials must be submitted electronically to info@wit-nc.com.
The application deadline for the Women in International Trade Northern California Scholarship program is October 1, 2011
