In the dangerous world of enormous, scholarship-related acronyms, perhaps the The Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology Scholarships (or DFBSST) takes the cake. This scholarship program is an endowment fund which provides scholarships to African-American undergraduate students enrolled in scientific or technical fields of study at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). To be eligible for a DFBSST scholarship, one must meet the following criteria:
- African-American, undergraduate student majoring (or intending to major) in a technical field of study (i.e., engineering, math, science, etc.),
- Be enrolled (or identify his or her intention to enroll) at one of the predominantly Black colleges or universities, and
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

This scholarship is due on June 30th. Recipients of this scholarship will receive a $2000 scholarship, and this award is renewable for up to 4 years (so there is a potential for $8000!).
