Today’s scholarship is from the Momeni Foundation, which is a non-profit dedicated to providing scholarships to students of Iranian descent. Founded in Oregon in 1984, this is a wonderful organization that is founded in hopes that “recipients will also, some day, establish their own scholarship programs.”
The first scholarship provided by the Momeni Foundation is the Scholastic Achievement Scholarship. To be eligible for the Scholastic Achievement Scholarship (SAS), applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be graduating from high school and planning to enroll as a full time college student. The scholarship committee is also going to be looking at community involvement and a short essay about future goals and plans. The Scholastic Achievement Scholarship awards three (3) scholarships of $1,000.
The second scholarship is the Financial Assistance Scholarship, which as its name suggests, considers financial need. Unlike the Scholastic Achievement Scholarship, the Financial Assistance Scholarship is open to high school students, college students, and graduate students (this includes masters and Ph.D. students). The minimum GPA for this scholarship is 3.0 and an essay is also required. Students must also submit a copy of their FAFSA application or a document pertaining to their financial aid.
The deadline for these scholarship is June 30, 2011 and the scholarship packages can be sent to:
