Each year, the National Sculpture Society provides financial assistance to student scultpurers in the way of $2000 scholarships to be used at academic institutions. This scholarship program is for current college students (undergraduate students, students in M.F.A. programs, etc.). A PDF of the scholarship, which can be found at the scholarships page, details the specific requirements of the applications. The application consists of:
1. The Scholarship Application form
2. A biography or resume that explains the student’s background in sculpture. This can be in the form of a Word (.doc) or PDF (.pdf) document or a separate piece of paper.
3. Two letters of recommendation. (These can be mailed separately)
4. A CD with six to fifteen images of work by the applicant. It is strongly suggested that at least five different sculptures are included in the images. Images on the CD should be in JPEG (.jpg) format with a resolution of at least 72 dpi. PLEASE, NO POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS
5. A list stating the title, medium and dimensions of the sculpture shown in the images on the CD. This can be in the form of a Word (.doc) or PDF (.pdf) document.
6. Proof of financial need. This can be in the form of photocopies of other scholarship/grant applications, photocopies of tax forms from previous years, and/or a signed letter from the financial aid office of the applicant’s school.
Luckily, 4 scholarships are given out each year, so your chances aren’t too bad. When the application is completed, send it to:
