Every year, the Flag Manufacturers Association of America sponsors a college scholarship opportunity. Originally, I was going to do this scholarship on Flag Day or the July 4th, but alas the deadline is June 1, 2011, so it would be a bit too late. In total, the FMAA will be awarding two different $1,000 scholarship for winning students!
This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who are continuing their education in any degree program.
The premise of this scholarship is simple: students must create a video (of no longer than 5 minutes) that explains what the American flag means to them. Applicants must then send 5 copies of their video to the FMAA headquarters along with their contact information, brief statement of future plans, and signed video release form.
The Flag Manufacturers Association of America headquarters is located at:
994 Old Eagle School Road, Suite 1019
Wayne, PA 19087-1866
All applications must be submitted by June 1, 2011 and winners will be notified by July 4, 2011.
If you have any questions, you can send an email to the FMAA Director of Marketing, Hope Silverman: hope@mmco1.com
Best of luck to all applicants! To get an idea of what the scholarship committee is looking for, check out the past winning video and second place video on YouTube.
