Each year, the Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation, Inc. runs the Holocaust Remembrance Project essay contest. This contest (open to all students in the U.S. and Mexico grades 9-12) aims to encourage research of the Holocaust and have applicants submit a 1200 word essay that:
(a) analyzes why it is vital that the remembrance, history and lessons of the Holocaust be passed on to a new generation; and
(b) suggests what young people can do to combat and prevent prejudice, discrimination and violence in our world today.
This scholarship/essay contest has a variety of different place prizes, including ten first place winners (winning from $5000 to 2500), ten second place winners (winning $500), and ten third place winners ($250). Although this scholarship is pretty competitive (last year, there was 6,000 entries), there are a large number of prizes, so your chance of winning isn’t too slim.
Essays must be submitted by April 15, 2011 by 6 p.m. EST. If you would like to find out more information about the specifics, check out the Essay Contest page on their website. If you would like to contact the foundation, do so at:
