Each year, the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (or AHEPA for short) offers high school students, college students, and graduate students scholarship of up to $2,000. Like the National Italian American Foundation Scholarship we profiled, the AHEPA Scholarship is aimed at students who are of Greek descent. To be eligible for these awards, you must be a member of AHEPA or of Greek descent and the son/daughter of a either a member of AHEPA, the Daughters of Penelope, the Sons of Pericles, or the Maids of Athena. Extra consideration will be given to candidates who are a member of AHEPA or who have an annual family income of less than $100,000.
The deadline for this opportunity is March 31, 2011.
The application packet is available online and must include the application, a transcript, two letters of recommendation, a photograph, and a financial need verification if your annual family income is less than $100,000.
So, if you are of Greek decent, but not a member of AHEPA and have always been interested in your heritage, this may be a great time to check out joining the organization!
Best of luck!
