50315 37306092591 1566 n NSPA Journalism Honor Roll Award

The National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Journalism Honor Roll Award is a wonderful opportunity for students interested in pursuing an education in the field of journalism.

This application has two parts. A student can apply for just the Honor Roll, and, if selected, will receive a special certificate of recognition from the NSPA.

The scholarship portion of the Honor Roll is open to all high school seniors who have a GPA of 3.75 or higher & have participated in student media for 1 or more years. Furthermore, your school’s publication must be registered with the NSPA. Students interested in applying for the scholarship must apply for the Honor Roll, and then submit additional information.

This extra infomation involves a written recommendation (from a publication adviser or journalism teacher) and a 500 word essay that explains “Why I’m choosing a career in journalism.” This scholarship information should be included in the honor roll application. The deadline for the honor roll and scholarship application is February 15, 2011.

The application form that needs to be filled out can be found on the studentpress website. If you have any questions, send them to contests@studentpress.org, or to 2221 University Ave. SE, Suite 121, Minneapolis, MN 55414

If you are interested in a journalism profession, this is a great scholarship opportunity. Also note that the Honor Roll Award is just one of the many scholarships offered by the NSPA to high school students. Browse the site to discover even more options.
