30 Rock is one of my favorite television shows.  Alec Baldwin’s character Jack Donaghy loves two things in the world: General Electric and Ronald Reagan.  This scholarship opportunity from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Library combines these two passions.

The GE-Ronald Reagan Scholarship Program is a very generous scholarship that provides $10,000 dollars of scholarship money to 20 high school students each year.

As this scholarship celebrates the centennial of President Reagan’s birth, it focuses largely on community service and leadership.  In this, students must be nominated by a community leader (such as your high school principal or the executive director of a non-profit) and recommended by an authority figure (such as a teacher, coach, or religious figure).  Students must also have above a 3.0 GPA to qualify.  Financial need is something else that will be considered by the scholarship committee.

Interested students can apply online through the Reagan Foundation website.
