The Lowe’s Scholarship

Lowe’s is not only in the business of helping people build their homes, it is also in the business of helping students pay for college!
Each year Lowe’s offers $600,000 worth of scholarship money to 190 high school students.
The deadline for these scholarships is February 28, 2011 so there is plenty of time to apply.
These scholarships are in the form of two unique opportunities:
The Lowe’s Scholarship offers 140 scholarships worth $2,500 each. This scholarship is very straightforward. To apply you must be a high school senior, have a minimum of a 3.25 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and have showed leadership through extracurriculars, community service, or work experience.
Meanwhile, the Carl Buchan Scholarship is only available to you if you work for Lowe’s or you have a direct family member who does. So, if this applies to you, it is definitely worth applying to!
For both of these opportunities you need to fill out your application by February 28, 2011 Lowe’s online application.
After that, if you are a semi-finalist, you will be notified in March. Then, the winners will be notified in May.
It would be worth checking out the mission of the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation. This link also gives some insight into what the Lowe’s Foundation believes in.
With all of these scholarships, by examining the mission and aims of the organization, you will be able to gain better insight into how the scholarship winners are picked.
As always, best of luck, with this scholarship opportunity!
